Mr Stephen Chi Forfuh was the last in a polygamy family of many. He was born in 1934 to Ngum and Forfuh in Akum. Mr Stephen chi is known to Many as Papa Tanyi Stephen and in his local Akum entire community as Papa Tanyi Chi. Pa Tanyi Chi was able to go to school in the 1940s and was the 3rd batch of small Mankon Catholic primary School in Bamenda, North West region of Cameroon. Papa Stephen Chi left small Mankon for santa in the north west of Cameroon were he graduated with a first school leaving certificate. He then left for Lagos in Nigeria where in continued in education and he graduated with a certificate in mechanical Engineering. Pa Stephen Chi left Nigeria for Cameroon and was employed by the Public Work department branch in Bamenda where he worked as a mechanic. In the 1950s, Papa Tanyi Chi legally got married to his two wives at on the same day. From the 50s to the late 80s, Papa Tanyi Chi was blessed with Children and grand Children. He was engaged in bringing up and educating his children. In the late 60s, Papa Tanyi Chi had a serious accident but Thanks to the almighty lord, he survive and because of his positive reputation at work, he was able to continue working with the department of public work. In 1983, Papa Tanyi Chi voluntarily resign from the Department of Public work and became a successful coffee farmer in Akum till the year 2000 when the value for coffee in the local and international market dropped.
2000 onward was a period for Papa Tanyi to visit children and spent time with his grand kids. He visited Marland in the United State and later on Bristol in the United Kingdom. In 2007, papa Tanyi Chi assembled his children and said “ my children, I almost saw heaven 40 years ago but the Lord said ‘my son, you are a role model in your community and family and I want you to go back and achieve your goals’. I have achieve my goals on earth and I am happy and ready for God to call my soul but I do not want any one to mourn me after my death. I want you people to arranged the 40 th anniversary for my accident this December and and celebrate it as if it was my funeral’. Papa Tanyi Chi wanted to know how his funeral was going to look like when he was dead. The anniversary was held as discussed and it was a big success. Papa Tanyi was extremely happy. 12 years later Papa Tanyi chi became of blessed memory leaving behind more than 65 children and grand children. He will live to be remembered by his entire family.
